Do You Drink Water but Don’t Feel Hydrated? You Could Be Drinking It Badly

Is anyone else sick of being told to drink more water? My mom tells me, my doctor tells me, my nutritionist tells me, and even I tell myself that every day.

However, a couple of weeks ago I complained to my nutritionist because I told her I’m going to the bathroom every half hour. And she scolded me and said that if I’m peeing so often I’m not absorbing the water, I’m just drinking it and throwing it away.

And what she told me makes sense, sometimes my pores get clogged up, I get blemishes and even my lips get dry. How do you drink water properly?

Here are some tips to keep you well hydrated all day long and make the most of the water you drink.

Signs that you need more water:

  1. Dry lips, eyes and hair.
  2. Clogged pores, pimples and redness of the skin.
  3. Constipation
  4. Little or no sweating

Tips for drinking water correctly:

  1. Drink water at the same time or warm water instead of cold
    Cold liquids freeze the enzymes in your saliva and digestive system so absorption of water and other nutrients is limited.
  2. Add this to your water to improve absorption
    These ingredients will help the water molecules to be absorbed more effectively.
  • Add one teaspoon of mineral salt (sea salt, pink salt, etc.) to 32 ounces of water.
  • Add two tablespoons of chia.
  • Add ginger slices.
  • Add a little lemon juice.

3. Drink a glass of medium sized water when you wake up
Your body works at night to collect toxins and dispose of them in the morning. For this reason, it makes us want to pee when we wake up. To make sure the toxins are coming out properly, drink a medium glass of water when you wake up. Some of this water will not be absorbed properly but will help you expel what your body does not need and activate your digestion.

4. Take sips of water during the day
If you want to drink two litres of water a day, don’t drink a litre in 15 minutes and another litre in another 15 minutes. Sip water all day long. That way your body will be able to absorb it slowly.
